CEV, SA (CEV) was established in 2006, with the objective of developing a new patented protein-based fungicide. The active ingredient is a polypeptide, named BLAD, which is extracted from the germinated seeds of lupines. The polypeptide was discovered in 1991 at the Instituto Superior de Agronomia (ISA), Lisbon University, Portugal.
BLAD ACTIVE INGREDIENT
BLAD is a naturally-occurring 20 kDa polypeptide formed during the germination process of sweet lupines (Lupinus albus) and is water-extracted from the germinated seeds.

BLAD´s fungicide activity results from a combined action at several targets in the fungal cell. BLAD is able to bind to fungal chitin structures, disturbing the cell wall and cell membrane, and enters into the fungus cell. Inside the cell induces major changes in cell metabolism from which the most important is the disturbance of the cell metal homeostasis due to its chelating activity on divalent cations.

PRODUCTS & Technology
BLAD bio fungicides are produced in a liquid formulation, containing 250g of BLAD per Liter.
The first BLAD bio fungicide developed by CEV and most commonly used worldwide.
A slightly different formulation specifically designed for the USA in order to be compliant with the US National Organic Program (NOP) and also listed in the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI).
A lightly modified formulation specifically designed for the banana post-harvest treatment of crown rot.
A marginally distinct formulation uniquely created for turf and ornamentals.
CROPS & DISEASES
Our biofungicides have broad spectrum activity on many different crops and diseases.
BLAD based fungicides are contact fungicides with some translaminar properties. They are active against most life stages of disease (spores, hyphae, mycelium and haustoria).
They can be integrated in conventional rotational programs with no negative impact on efficacy, decreasing resistance development and residues load on the crops, due to MRLs exemption.
Also excellent partners for tank mix, being compatible with most fungicides, insecticides and fertilizers.
